Uttar Pradesh State Open School Board Overview
The Uttar Pradesh government established the Uttar Pradesh State Open School Board (UPSOSB) in 2008 through the Uttar Pradesh State Open School Board Act, 2008 (U.P. Act No. 27 of 2008), passed on August 29, 2008. This initiative replaced the Patrachar Shiksha Sansthan Allahabad to enhance access to quality secondary education for underprivileged students, particularly girls and marginalized communities, across Uttar Pradesh.
Operating as an autonomous entity, the UPSOSB aims to connect government efforts with rural and disadvantaged populations, promoting education at both state and national levels. Its mission is to facilitate transformative educational outreach in rural areas, ensuring inclusivity for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), dropouts, over-aged learners, and other underserved groups, integrating them into mainstream education.
The UPSOSB is dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities and women, regardless of caste, creed, religion, or language, by addressing social, cultural, health, educational, and economic challenges. It strives to foster self-reliance by reducing poverty and eliminating illiteracy.
By offering affordable courses without sacrificing educational quality, the UPSOSB enables students to pursue employment opportunities or higher education, empowering them to achieve their potential.
